# Notes on the Schedule: tell the next shift what happens to a truck, on the days it happens

Version 1.54.6, released 2026-10-22. Source: https://vektortms.com/releases/schedule-notes-on-truck-days

> Pin a note to a truck for one day or several, right on the Schedule and the Board. Home time, driver swaps, trailer pickups, a PM: the whole team sees it on the right days, and the truck stays open for loads.

Who goes home on Friday, which trailer to pick up, which truck is due for a PM: until now this lived in a dispatcher's head, in a group chat or in time off that was never really time off. Now you write it on the truck itself, on the days it applies, and the next shift sees it right on the Schedule. A note does not block the truck: unlike time off, its days stay open for loads.

## Add a note

Open **Dispatch > Schedule** and find the truck. Then use whichever is quicker:

![Point at an empty day: the left half adds a note, the right half adds time off.](https://storage.googleapis.com/vektor-public-storage/changelog/2abc4a30-92e7-4b2a-b475-07c0cda454e9.png "Point at an empty day: the left half adds a note, the right half adds time off.")

![Right-click a day: add a note or time off, or open a note that is already on that day.](https://storage.googleapis.com/vektor-public-storage/changelog/96a8b93f-72d5-4a0d-b653-8abbf336cfa9.png "Right-click a day: add a note or time off, or open a note that is already on that day.")

- **Click an empty day.** When you point at it, the day splits in two: click the **Note** half. The other half adds time off.
- **Drag across several days** to write one note for all of them, for example a driver's home time from Friday to Sunday.
- **Right-click any day** and choose **Add Note**, or click **Add Note** at the top of the page.

![Click the Note half: write what the next dispatcher should know, pick a status, press Enter.](https://storage.googleapis.com/vektor-public-storage/changelog/ae3be6d9-7fbf-4bca-a05b-f384bbb51cd2.png "Click the Note half: write what the next dispatcher should know, pick a status, press Enter.")

Write what the next dispatcher should know, for example *34-hour reset in Dallas. Plan Edward's next load from Monday.* Pick a status if you like and press **Enter** to save. **Shift+Enter** starts a new line.

## Give it a status

![Add Note at the top of the page: choose the truck, the days and a status, or add a new status right here.](https://storage.googleapis.com/vektor-public-storage/changelog/6c0bbafb-1230-4b67-8019-c15782b686f1.webp "Add Note at the top of the page: choose the truck, the days and a status, or add a new status right here.")

A status gives the note a color and a short name, so the week reads at a glance: red for **Goes home**, blue for **PM**, yellow for **Need a load**. Choose one under **Status** while you write, or click **New status** to add one on the spot. The full list lives in **Settings > Schedule > Statuses**. A status alone is enough: the text is optional.

## Read, move and edit

![Point at a note to read all of it, with its days and when it was added.](https://storage.googleapis.com/vektor-public-storage/changelog/213bbd10-dac4-49ea-bee1-93b4d970ff95.png "Point at a note to read all of it, with its days and when it was added.")

A note is a thin strip at the top of the truck's row that runs across its days: the status first, then the text. Point at it to read the whole note, its dates and who added it and when. Drag the strip to other days, drag its edge to make it longer or shorter, or click it to edit or delete it.

## On the Board too

![Board: a note for several days runs across the truck's row, a one-day note sits in its day in its status color.](https://storage.googleapis.com/vektor-public-storage/changelog/55224717-f8b6-4f07-b2db-0a8f3ac05db1.png "Board: a note for several days runs across the truck's row, a one-day note sits in its day in its status color.")

The same notes are on the **Board**. A note for several days runs across the truck's row, and a one-day note sits in its day, colored by its status. Right-click a day there to add one. Change a note in one place and the other shows it at once. Notes you left on the Board before are already there.

**Tip:** point at a day and press **N** to start a note without clicking. If clicking empty days gets in your way, turn off **Add by Clicking an Empty Day** in the Schedule settings (the gear icon). Right-click keeps working.
