Settlement cycles decide when each pay period closes and when your drivers are paid. Go to **Settings > Driver pay > Cycles**. If your company has only one cycle, it opens right away. No cycle yet? The page suggests a weekly schedule, Monday to Sunday and paid Friday, and **Create Weekly cycle** sets it up.

## See what needs your attention

A **Needs attention** strip appears only when something is wrong, each item with its fix: for example **Fix now** for a cycle that stopped closing, or **Add to** your default cycle for drivers who are on no cycle. The **Pay calendar** shows every cycle's periods and pay dates. Click a period or a pay date to see its dates and drivers, then **Open cycle** or **Open in Settlements**. Choose **4 weeks**, **6 weeks** or **3 months**, or **List** to read the same days as a list. In the table, the **In review** number opens the settlements waiting for review.

## Set the schedule as a pay week

Open a cycle and click **Edit schedule**:

1. **Repeats**: choose how often, for example **Weekly**.
2. **Pay week**: click the day the week ends, for example **Sun** for a Monday to Sunday week.
3. **Closes**: keep **End of Sunday**, or choose **At a time** and enter a time.
4. **Pay date**: set the days after the close, for example **5**. The weekday shows next to it: **Friday**.

**What changes** on the right shows your periods now and after the change, with every pay date, before anything is saved.

Click **Review change**. The review names the change and the day it starts, lists each setting before and after, and shows what happens to your periods: closed periods are never re-cut, the open period keeps its dates, and when needed one extra period bridges to the new schedule.

Click **Apply from** with the start day (for example **Apply from Oct 19**) to save, or **Keep editing**. The cycle's **Activity** tab records who changed what.

## Know when the open period closes

![A cycle's Overview: when the open period closes and is paid, and the closed periods whose pay date passed.](https://storage.googleapis.com/vektor-public-storage/changelog/4a8e166c-a5d2-491a-8eb1-a5fabaac7bd6.webp "A cycle's Overview: when the open period closes and is paid, and the closed periods whose pay date passed.")

The **Overview** tab shows when the open period closes, to the minute, and when it is paid. **Pay date passed** lists closed periods of the last 30 days that are not paid yet, each with **Review in Settlements**. Further down, the **Calendar** shows two months of closes and pay dates (click a day to see what happens on it), and the **Pay timeline** shows each period next to its pay date.

## See what each period needs

![Periods: what each period needs, and a period's totals, settlements and history beside the table.](https://storage.googleapis.com/vektor-public-storage/changelog/5f1298e3-ebfc-4af1-9bd1-22d70ff55636.webp "Periods: what each period needs, and a period's totals, settlements and history beside the table.")

On the **Periods** tab, filter by **Open and upcoming**, **Needs review** or **Paid**. Each period says what it needs, for example **Pay date passed**, or how many of its settlements are reviewed. Click a period to see its totals and driver settlements beside the table, with **Review in Settlements** and **Export**. To move the end of the open period, choose **Adjust dates…** in its **⋯** menu. To add an older period, click **Add a past period…**.

## Close a period early

![Close early: what happens to the settlements, to later loads and to the pay date, before you confirm.](https://storage.googleapis.com/vektor-public-storage/changelog/b06000c9-f9c3-4e12-97b1-d90eaf5368ff.webp "Close early: what happens to the settlements, to later loads and to the pay date, before you confirm.")

On the **Overview**, click **Close early…**. Before anything changes, the dialog shows the period now and after the close, how many open settlements move on to review, where loads delivered later go, and that the pay date stays. Confirm with the button that names the period, or click **Keep it open**. A closed period can't be reopened; to pay something extra, use **Off-cycle settlement** instead.

## See until when loads, fuel and tolls count

![How a period flows: until when loads, fuel and tolls count, when settlements go to review, and where late items go.](https://storage.googleapis.com/vektor-public-storage/changelog/97a4adad-3d8f-476f-b507-87a113088773.webp "How a period flows: until when loads, fuel and tolls count, when settlements go to review, and where late items go.")

The **Automation** tab draws **How a period flows**, to the hour: until when loads, fuel and tolls count toward the period, when settlements go to review and are paid, and where anything that arrives late goes. Switch between **Around the close**, **Whole period** and **Two periods**. The chart redraws as you change the settings below it, and **Examples** shows sample items on it.
