VIN lookup

Look up any truck or trailer VIN.

Carrier history, roadside inspections, and an evidence-based platform decode — from the federal record and manufacturer VIN tables.

Exactly 17 characters. Letters I, O, and Q are not permitted.

Evidence and legal guardrail

Decoded platform claims are inferences, and every published claim retains its source and confidence. Derived from manufacturer coding tables and our own decoded corpus; not an official government decode.

“Not established” means the available evidence did not establish the field. It never means the vehicle has no such attribute or that no data exists elsewhere.

What the result separates

Deterministic VIN structure stays distinct from corpus and manufacturer-sourced platform inferences.

Deterministic

Structure & checksum

WMI, VDS, ISO 3779 transliteration, position weights, and an exact position-9 check-digit verdict.

Cycle-aware

Model year candidates

Position 10 repeats every 30 years. Both candidates stay visible instead of silently choosing one.

Sourced inference

Platform resolution

Make, model, model line, generation, and cab type publish only at support ≥ 3 and purity ≥ 90%.

What we decode

Manufacturer-specific evidence defines the capability. Reused or absent codes are a refusal, not an invitation to infer.

VIN decoder FAQ

The answers below are the same claims published in the page’s structured data.

Can this truck VIN decoder identify a sleeper or day cab?

Only when a manufacturer-specific coding table or regulatory filing establishes the cab code and the stored prefix clears support ≥ 3 and purity ≥ 90%. Otherwise, we show “Not established.”

Why does a VIN not resolve?

The VIN may fail its 17-character or check-digit validation, its prefix may not clear the published evidence floor, or the platform resolver may be temporarily unavailable. Those states are shown separately.

Is this an official government VIN decode?

No. It combines deterministic VIN structure with Vektor corpus evidence and manufacturer or regulatory sources. It is not an official government decode.

Do you store my VIN?

Submitting the form does not write the VIN to Vektor’s platform store. The VIN becomes part of the page URL, so it can remain in browser history and normal request logs.

What makes this decoder different?

Every published platform claim retains its source, corpus support, and prefix purity. Ambiguous or unsupported fields remain “Not established” instead of being guessed.
