Carriers, rebuilt: who you can book, how they are paid and what you owe

The carriers list now puts each carrier's status, onboarding, safety, insurance, manifests, amount due and pay-to on one row, with a filter on every column. A carrier's page opens on an Overview, with its activity, payment and payee on the left.

Carriers, rebuilt: who you can book, how they are paid and what you owe

The Carriers list and every carrier's page have been rebuilt around what a broker checks before booking a load: whether the carrier can haul it, who gets paid and what is still owed.

The list: every carrier at a glance

Active and Deleted, with counts. The list opens on your active carriers, with Deleted one tab over and the number of carriers on each. Search sits above the list, and a click on a row opens the carrier's page.

One row, everything that matters. Each carrier shows its name with its MC and DOT numbers, its status (Active, Inactive or Dispatch Restricted), its onboarding status (Not Invited, Invited, Incomplete, Complete or On Hold), its safety rating and its insurance. Tracking shows which tracking provider covers the carrier and how, such as ELD, or Not set up.

Money and payment on the row. Manifests and Amount Due split what is active from what is completed. Pay To shows the payee or factoring company the carrier is paid through, with Add payee or Assign when there is none yet, and Contacts lists the people to call.

Filter any column, change status in place. Every column has its own filter in the header, and the header stays in place while you scroll. Status and onboarding status change right from the row, and a status change asks for a reason first.

The carrier's page

A carrier's page: activity, contacts, payment and payee on the left, and Overview with its statuses next to the other tabs.

Who they are and how they are paid, on the left. Activity shows the carrier's manifests in progress and completed, its carrier pay and the balance due. Below are its contacts, then Payment with the currency, payment terms and remit-to, each changed in place, with an unset one shown in red. The payee or the factoring company follows. The carrier's logo sits in the header, and you can upload it there.

Overview first, then the details. The page opens on Overview with the carrier's status, onboarding status, safety status and insurance. Fleet, Notes, Documents, Insurance, Certifications, Orders, Manifests and Tenders follow as tabs.

A status change says what it does. Changing a carrier's status opens a short dialog that asks for the reason and says in plain words what the new status means for booking the carrier.

Only carriers you can book. When you assign a carrier to a manifest or create a tender, inactive and deleted carriers are no longer offered. Create Carrier now asks for Pay To and payment terms up front, and a factoring company when the carrier is paid through one.

How to use it

Open Carriers in the main menu: under Coverage for a brokerage, or under Broker for a company that also runs its own trucks. Carrier pay and the balance due on a carrier's page show to people who can see carrier pay.
