Detention used to open on a table you read. It now opens on a queue you work: the cases that need a decision come first, the case you are on stays open beside the list, and every step from confirming the amount to filing the report is one click away. A new Analytics tab shows the same detentions over time, by client or by facility.
The board is a work queue
The board has four tabs, each with a count. Needs action is where it opens: finished detentions with billable time whose charge is not on an order invoice yet. On the clock holds the detentions still in progress. Billed holds the ones whose charge is on an order invoice, and All holds everything. Search and the filters for status, facility, client, order, truck, invoice, dates and amount work inside whichever tab you are on.
The first case in the tab opens in a panel next to the list, so there is no dialog to open and close. Move through the queue with Prev and Next in the panel, or with the arrow keys (J and K work too). A case you finish stays where it was instead of jumping out of the list, a Resolved count keeps track of them, and Next skips ahead to the next open case. Clear tidies the resolved ones away.
One case, one console
A case ready to bill: the amount and where it stands, the stop's timeline and recorded times, and Add to order invoice one click away.
The panel leads with the amount and where it stands: amount not confirmed, ready to bill, on the order invoice or rejected. When a rate is behind it, the working is spelled out as hours times the hourly rate. Below it a timeline of the stop shows arrival, check-in, the start of detention and departure, and the recorded times are listed so a wrong one can be corrected in place. If the times contradict each other, or there is no check-out, the case says so before you claim.
Edit amount opens the figure inline, and Confirm amount saves the figure you agreed with the client. Add to order invoice puts the charge on the order. Send summary emails the claim to the customer, and the case shows when it went and to whom. Reject sets a claim aside, and Restore brings it back. The detention status and the invoice status can be changed from the case header, and the Facility, Activity, Notes, Alerts and Emails tabs sit under the case.
The claim report, filed on the order
Add to order docs files the Detention Claim Report, the same report Send summary attaches, on the order's Documents tab as a Detention Report. No email is sent. The button shows the filing while it is in progress and confirms once the report is on the order.
Analytics
Analytics by facility, month by month: each facility's detentions and amount billed over the last 12 months, the tiles for this month and the revenue chart.
The new Analytics tab, next to Configurations, looks at finished detentions over time. Choose Clients or Facilities, and Weekly or Monthly for the last 12 weeks or 12 months. The list starts with all of them together, then names the clients or facilities that produce the most detentions, each with its count and the amount billed. Pick one and the whole page narrows to it.
Four tiles open the current week or month: how many detentions, how much was billed, the average detention time and the average time on site, each with a sparkline and the change from the previous period. Three charts follow: the amount billed per period alongside the number of detentions, how detentions split by invoice status (on the order invoice, amount not confirmed, rejected), and the average time on site against the average detention time.
How to start
Detention is still in Beta. Open Dispatch → Detention: the board opens on Needs action, and Analytics is the third tab. Anyone on your team who can see loads can use both.
