When a load changes hands at a yard or a relay point, one trip becomes several manifests. If each leg simply takes the next free number, 50350 and 50351 can be the same freight while 50352 is something else entirely. The Split page decides how those legs are numbered, so every leg of one trip can carry the trip's own number.
Choose how split legs are numbered
Three ways to number a split. Open Settings > Dispatch > Split and pick one. The choice is saved as soon as you click it and applies to every split in your company.
- Letter suffix (-A, -B) - the default. 50350 becomes 50350-A and 50350-B.
- Number suffix (-1, -2) - 50350 becomes 50350-1 and 50350-2.
- Next available number - the new manifest takes the next free number and the original keeps its own.
Rename the original, or let it keep its number. With a suffix mode, Rename the original on its first split gives the manifest you split the first suffix as well: 50350 becomes 50350-A and the new leg 50350-B. Turn it off and the original stays 50350, while the new leg is still 50350-B. The switch has no effect with Next available number.
See the result before you split. Preview with your settings spells out what your next split will look like with the options you picked, for example: splitting 50350 gives 50350-A and 50350-B, and splitting 50350-B again adds 50350-C.
How the numbers behave
- The same rule applies whether you split at a stop, by drop or by miles.
- Splitting any leg again continues the sequence of the trip, so the next leg of 50350 is 50350-C whichever leg you split.
- Merging a leg back does not renumber anything. The manifest you merge into keeps its number, the merged leg stays in the chain marked as merged, and the next split still takes the next letter, so a suffix is never used twice.
- A change to the setting applies to the next split. Manifests split earlier keep the numbers they already have.
Follow every leg of a split
Both legs of one trip in the manifest list: M-766-A runs to the handoff, M-766-B picks up from it.

Show details opens a map of the whole chain next to a card for each leg and for the handoff, with the planned drop and pickup times and the gap between them.

Find split legs in the list. Add the Characteristics filter from the manifest list settings to narrow the list to split roots, split legs or unmerged manifests.
How to use it
Open Settings > Dispatch > Split and pick the numbering your team reads best. The next manifest you split is numbered that way. Open any leg to see its chain, and use Open lineage for the full picture of the trip.
