What changed
Rate Matrix keeps the rates you negotiated and prices lanes against them. The rebuilt screen is what the sidebar opens now, and a V1/V2 switch in the header still gets you back to the old one.
65 contract lanes from one origin, each at the rate you agreed.
- One home for the rate book. Every sheet in one list with a completeness grade - lanes priced, fuel linked, dates set, customers linked - next to a network panel that says how many lanes reached the map and links to the sheet holding the ones that did not.
- Import what you already have. Drop an XLSX, XLS, CSV or PDF; the file is read rather than guessed, and you review the lanes and the warnings before anything is activated.
- Zones on a map. State and county boundaries, radius circles and ZIP points on one map, each zone showing how many sheets use it, and a place with no boundary data on file called out rather than quietly dropped.
- Fuel rules you can read. The brackets, the diesel source and area they follow, the floor, cap and step they respect, and every rate sheet the rule is linked to.
- Price a lane from the header, from a sheet's Test tab, or from a sample lane the sheet already prices. The answer shows the rate, the miles, the band it matched and the sheet it came from, and you can copy the receipt or save it as a PDF.
- A first run that explains itself. With no sheets on file yet, the screen opens on how a contract, a rate sheet, a lane, a fuel rule and the charges add up to one price, a worked example from lane rate to order total, and four places to start.
- Commands on every rate screen. Press Cmd K or Ctrl K to jump to zones, fuel, contracts, an import, or the Test tab of the sheet you are on.
Why it matters
Quoting from a spreadsheet means the number depends on who opened it. A rate book everyone prices against gives the same answer twice, and the result carries its own receipt when a customer asks how you got there.
How to use it
Zones on one map: boundaries, radius circles and ZIP points, each showing how many sheets use it.
- Open Rate Matrix in the sidebar and import a sheet, or start one from scratch.
- Draw the zones, or use the state, county and ZIP boundaries as they are.
- Price a sample lane from the sheet's Test tab and read the breakdown before you activate.
Price a lane before you quote it: the rate, the miles, the band that matched, and a receipt you can send.
