The Journey
PAM International had built something real over the years. A 300-truck cross-border carrier operating out of Miami, they moved freight between the US and Latin America on lanes that demanded precision: tight border crossing windows, documentation requirements, and shipper customers who expected updates in real time. The fleet was experienced. The dispatchers were sharp. But the tools they were using to run the operation had not kept pace with the scale.
Load building was a daily exercise in manual effort. Rate confirmations arrived by email, got printed or copy-pasted, and were keyed into whatever system was closest. Drivers — the majority of whom spoke Spanish as their primary language — received dispatch instructions over the phone or through WhatsApp threads that lived outside any TMS. Tracking updates meant the dispatcher had to remember to call the driver, then call the broker, then update the system. When broker check-call volume spiked, it fell on the same dispatchers who were already managing active loads.
The billing problem was even more acute. At settlement time, the team was manually calculating pay packages for a fleet that included both company drivers and owner-operators, each with their own rate structures. Settlement runs stretched across two to three days. Submitting invoices to their factoring company was a separate manual batch process. With 300 trucks generating continuous freight, the administrative debt was compounding.
The PAM team had evaluated other enterprise TMS platforms but found that most were either priced for large carriers willing to pay for implementation consultants, or they were generic enough that the cross-border specifics — multi-language driver support, lumper code workflows, custom document requirements — required heavy customization to make work. When they discovered Vektor, the specific combination of white-label driver app with Spanish language support and automated billing caught their attention immediately.
The Transformation
The first thing PAM's operations lead asked about in their sync session with the Vektor team was the customer portal. Not the load board, not the pricing engine — the portal that their shipper customers would see. That instinct said everything about how PAM competed: on service quality and visibility, not just price per mile. When Max walked through the branded tracking portal — served from a custom domain, showing live driver location, stop status, and ETA with no Vektor branding visible to the shipper — the response was immediate. This was the product they wanted to present to their customers.
