Not every driver wants the app tracking their phone around the clock, owner-operators especially. You can now decide, for the whole company, whether the driver app tracks location only while it is open or keeps tracking in the background.
Pick a company default
Two modes. Under Settings > Drivers > Company default, While using the app tracks location only while the driver app is open and visible. Background tracking lets supported devices keep tracking while the app runs in the background. Until you save a default, background tracking stays in place, as it works today.
Exceptions for single drivers. Editing a driver now shows a Location tracking tab, where that driver follows the company default or gets a mode of their own. Save company default changes the default and keeps those exceptions. Apply to everyone sets the mode for every driver and clears the exceptions, after asking you to confirm.
Drivers keep control of their phone. The setting decides when the app may collect location. It does not change location or notification permissions on the device; those stay with each driver.
See whose phones have picked it up
A setting counts only once the driver's phone reports it back. The counters show how many drivers have applied it and how many have not, how many devices can take the setting, how many run an app version that cannot, and which devices have not reported. A phone on an older driver app is counted as unsupported until the driver updates. Each driver's tab shows the mode in effect, where it comes from and the status of their devices.
How to use it
Open Settings > Drivers, pick a mode under Company default and click Save company default. Changing it needs the driver location tracking permission on your role; without it the section shows a notice instead.
